How to create your own channel


One simply needs to update the WhatsApp app and then users will see a new channels option either on the main window or Updates tab. Anyone on WhatsApp can create a channel by tapping on the "+" icon, which is located on the right of Channels option. Once you tap on it, the app will give you an option to create a channel. You can simply add a name to it and an image as well. As of now, there is no limit on the number of channels you can create.

WhatsApp Channels: Privacy features


As a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo won’t be shown to followers. Likewise, following a channel won’t reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers. Who you decide to follow is your choice and it’s private, according to details revealed by WhatsApp. WhatsApp will only store channel history on servers for up to 30 days as the company believes there is no point in keeping Channel updates forever.

Create a channel to share updates and connect with your followers directly through WhatsApp. You’ll need a WhatsApp account to get started, if you don’t have one learn how to get one here. You can also access Channels through the WhatsApp Business app, learn more here. If you have a WhatsApp account, make sure it’s updated to the latest version.

To add more security to your channel, turn on two-step verification for the WhatsApp account creating your channel and on the accounts of any admins.

Create a Whatsapp Channel


1. Open WhatsApp Web, and go to Channels by clicking the Channels icon

2. Click  > Create channel.

3. Click Continue and continue through the onscreen prompts.

4. Add a channel name to finish creating your channel. You can choose to change the name again at any time.


5. Customize your channel: You can choose to customize your channel now by adding a description and icon or wait until later.
  • Add a channel description: Write a few words to help potential followers understand what your channel is about.
  • Add a channel icon: Add an image from your phone or the web to stand out.
6. Click Create channel, and you’re done!

Now that you’re all set up with a channel, learn how to share an update here. You can find and share a link to your channel from the channel info page.

To get to your channel info page:
  1. Open Channels by clicking the Channels icon.
  2. Click your channel, and then your channel name.
  3. Click Copy link.

How to Share Your Own WhatsApp Channel


Now that you know how to create a WhatsApp Channel, it is vital to also know how to share it with others and grow your following. You won’t have to put your nose to the grindstone for this one, thanks to WhatsApp’s great UI, which makes everything easier. Sharing your WhatsApp Channel is super easy too. Here’s a quick rundown:

1. After you have created a WhatsApp Channel, you will find it under the “Updates” tab.

2. Open your Channel and tap on the Channel link button at the top right corner.

3. As soon as you top it, you will see four different options (Send link via WhatsApp, Share to my status, Copy link, and Share link) to share the Channel’s link. Tap on the one that fits your needs the best, and that’s pretty much it.

How to Delete a WhatsApp Channel


If you feel like the point of the WhatsApp Channel you created has been fulfilled and want to delete it, that can be done as well. To do so, follow the steps below:

1. To delete a created WhatsApp Channel, you will need to head over to the Updates tab again.

2. Here, tap to open the Channel you want to delete and tap on the Channel’s name at the top.

3. Next, on the Channel info page, tap the Delete Channel button at the bottom.
Note: You will see a confirmation page that informs you that this is a permanent action and that your followers will still be able to see your past activity. No new users will be able to discover your WhatsApp Channel, though.
4. On the confirmation page, you will see a red Delete button. Tap on it.

5. A pop-up window will then ask you to type in the phone number that the WhatsApp account is using.

6. Once done, tap on the Delete button, and that’s it. That is the flow to delete your WhatsApp Channel.
